Before you go any further you need measurements on your creeks: total drop, flow, distance from house to source of power. This will get you an idea of how much power you have and whether it is worth it to go with the development of the system.
There are some things big hydro projects have in common with micro hydro but there are also problems micro hydro has that never appear in bigger systems.
I am in British Columbia, Canada and have a micro hydro system supplying all our household power.
