small 12v battery

I am making a solar panel battery combo to power my malibu lights.  I am using led bulbs so I only will be using 3.3 watts.  I was going to use a 10w panel.  I am looking for an inexpensive battery for such application.  I don't really care if the lights dont burn all night because of a poor light day. I'm thinking a 5ah or 10 ah battery is big enough. Since there is a zillion types of small batteries out there I was wondering if I could get opinions on which would be a good one.  It is my understanding I dont need a charge controller with a panel so small.  I also read that gel cells shouldn't be overcharged at all so they might not be the best for the application.  Low cost is the rule here.  Thanks
