Conversion Program
« on: August 09, 2008, 04:43:27 PM »
After seeing all the comments about converting metric-english, celsius-fahrenheit, I decided to try & post this program here. I hope I'm not violating any rules here, but I know the mods will let me know.

I've been using this program for years, and it has just about every kind of conversion anyone here will need. It is freeware, and been scanned & virus-free.

Jeff;

No problem posting helper programs at all. I would just urge folks to be careful executing any programs until they satisfy themselves it is clean.

I use Macs so its no good to me.

RossW has a great "bot" running on IRC that does conversions, math, power available from X wind at Y speed, even monetary conversions, etc. Both metric and the system America uses. I find I use it very regularly.

just about 60 MPH, of course. We used both "Mikes" [miles] and "Kliks" [Kilometers] when I was in the Army. I just call it 60 miles equals 100 kilometers but its more like 62.14 miles for 100 kilometers.

I think. I am not good at conversions just know the location of the tools.

As many times as I've seen a war movie "They're just two clicks to the west..."  I never knew it was "Klicks" for Kilometers!  I learn something new every day!

I was going to add my 2 cents in, and recommend a program that I'VE been using.  Lo and Behold, it's the SAME program!

Here's a link to the programmer's website, for those wary of downloading from here.

Whew! thanks all! I was hoping it wasn't violating any policies! It just never bothered me WHAT the units were, as it was so easy for me to convert it. The programmer is a brother to an engineer I worked with at the Aerospace company I used to work for.

Glad it might be some help to anyone, as I've talked to both involved about sharing it, and hopefully eliminating any worries about what seems to me simple conversions.

If you are genuinely trying to help other users with on-topic information then go for it. Thanks a lot for the conversion program. I started out putting the to Units into Google (gallons liters) and it would bring up conversion programs. Here are a few of my suggestions ...

language translator (ignore "sign in" and just copy/paste the text, Ach du Lieber!)

I have both a Mac and a PC, and these work great for me.

Google itself does conversions and math, just type:

"convert 20 km/h to mph" and it will give you the answer.
