My first AC motor conversion part III
« on: November 30, 2009, 07:46:24 PM »
My motor conversion was stalling my 4' pvc blades at 2A @ 12.3V. So ghurd suggested to make them fater. Fater a made them:

The blades turned out to be much more quieter than the previous set.

I also managed to rise the mill another 5'. The result was 4.75A @ 12.51V and I'm so happy. Thanks ghurd and everyone in this board.

Looks great Octavio!

Something needs clarified for other readers.

The new blade design is Slower than the blades that were stalling.  The TSR is less.

The new blades turn faster because they are not stalling.

Oops.

I read fatter as 'faster'.

No worries, they are indeed faster and "smoother", better balanced and what not.

Thanks for your note Ding, I drool on your motor conversions. It's been a very fun little project. I know it is not generating much, but it felt like 3.3 gigawatts of power :)

Yes, I'm hooked. I have plans to build an axial flux, probably an 8' beast (to me), beeing collecting parts for it.

I have also started to strip down an 1/2 hp AC motor for rewinding. It has a 24 slot stator an like to make it a 4 pole winding.

Anyway, too many plans too little time.

Salud!
