SW4048 connection ribbon
« on: January 16, 2010, 04:54:16 PM »
I have a pair of circa 1998 Trace SW 4048 inverters.  The ribbon tht connects them so that they play nice together has gotten kinked so that it doesn't work any more. Anyne out there know where a replacement can be had?  Thanx. Motorcycle Michael.

most ribbon cable have connectors that can be pried open. Look for  old computers as they have lots of ribbon cable inside. You can cut a replacement cable using the same number of wires and connectors are a press fit with pins that pierce the cable and make the connection.

take your time it should be an easy fix

Good luck

Should you be unable to find a ribbon cable of suitable length, or have a problem with one of the old connectors.  You should be able to order both from an electronic supply company such as Jameco.  On their most recent catalogue they list a variety of ribon cables in various lengths, and as was previously stated, you can generally just strip off extra wires to get the right number.  They also have connectors.  I run only one SW4048, so I haven't had to deal with this, and am unfamiliar with the specific connector Trace used, but these supply houses carry a variety of them.  Rich
