Two home built wind generators
« on: May 23, 2007, 12:57:38 PM »

I have the two windmills Using 2 phase Deep Sea ROV motors 4 x 12 with 2 brushes and a ground in each motor each produce 15 VDC at 150 RPM's and each produce 60 VDC at 600 RPM's. I am using two 102" factory fiberglass props. Is there a Inverter that will except both windmills hooked in a series they would put out 24 VDC to 120 VDC. Dont wanna spend next years ele bill money on it

Except = with the exclusion or exception of

Do you really mean that ?.

May be you mean ACCEPT both.

The MX60 will do such "acceptance" though you will need an ELC ( Electronic Level Controller) to protect the MX60 against voltages above 120 volts .

The standard here is to use a battery bank. You would need a blocking diode on each windgenerator for a 12 volt system ( or one diode if a 24 volt system)to keep them from motoring when the wind is lower than cut-in speed.

If you try doing as you propose, using no batteries, the inverter will shut down for low voltage as the mills produce less than you need power wise. Then when the wind picks up, the mills will have no over speed control. Just a thought... Gary D.

I was thinking of using a 48 volt battery bank. Do you think marine batterys will work? Also a MX60 to charge them. But I will install a blocking diode on each generator before the MX60. Now I will need a grid tie inverter. What inverter would you recommend. One that is low priced?.
