(I found no articles to answer this question.)I am trying to hook up a car alternator (105 amp off an 84 Chrysler) to a bicycle and in turn a deep cycle marine battery as an alternative energy source. The alternator has a ground and positive and I think I know how to hook those up. It also has a 'field' post comprised of two spades (or paddles) which I tried hooking direct to the positive on the battery and nothing happened. How do I connect the two different spades of the field terminal.

Thank you for this service you provide and the very informative articles!
