Making my own stator and rotor
« on: February 17, 2008, 06:59:35 PM »
Hi all,

Newbie here who has the time and the shop to make the stator and rotor as seen in this project,

http://www.otherpower.com/scotthydro1.html

but I am not sure how to do the wiring of the stator. Does anyone have the step by step procedure for this. Probably been posted here before but I was unable to find it. This would be for a water wheel similar to the one pictured in the link above.

Thanks in advance

I am sure there are connection drawings here but it should be easy to describe.

You have 9 coils, 3 in each phase. make sure the coils are the same way up so that the starts and finishes come out in the same place.

Start with one coil and call its start A, connect its finish to the start of one 120 degrees away. Now connect the finish of that to the next one at 120 deg. You will finally end up with a finish and call it a.

Now take the next coil to A and mark its start B, join the 3 coils in that phase start to finish and you end with finish b.

Now call C the start next to B and do the same for the 3 rd phase and you end with finish c.

For star connection you join a b & c together and take A B & C to the rectifier.

Footnote:

Replace the word 'Polyester' with 'Vinyl Ester' (VE) wherever found on the page.

VE is a vast improvement over the usual Bondo etc. polyester fiberglass resin.
