Ametek 30v dc
« on: October 10, 2008, 03:25:54 PM »
Hi all,

A question that I am sure has probably been asked a thousand times but I could not find the desired answer having "googled" the board.

Are the Ametek 30v dc motors really any good for a decent amount of power or are there now better alternatives available?  I have one that I am messing about with but am very undecided.  I reckon 350rpm is about what one would want but I really want something to start up lower than this to make the most of available wind.

I cheated somewhat with my other mill and managed to get a used but perfectly adequate "Windblue" motor at a greatly knocked down price and to be honest am wondering whether to hold out to find another of these and sell the Ametek, as I am not in such a rush to try to put a system together this time.  Not going back out on location until April 09.

Thanks again all, any input would be most welcome.

I "think" that the ametek maxes out about 100 watts or so.
