Looking to buy Wire for playing
« on: November 05, 2008, 07:39:11 PM »
I see allot of people building and testing coils and after stating it would have been nice to used XX gauge, but all I have is XX gauge. I want to get 3 - 4 spools of diff gauges to test and play with. But have no experience so I need to pick your brains and experience. My goal is 10' to 12' ginny one low speed and maybe one for higher speed winds. I want to play and learn, but need the help of all so I can learn from your mistakes, not mine!

There are shops in any city that specialize in re-winding and refurbishing industrial motors.  They will have plenty of wire on hand, but may or may not be interested in selling you a bit (some business people would see that as a waste of time, other people would enjoy hearing about the project).

Electronics stores often carry magnet wire.  People make all kinds of sensors and audio speakers with the stuff, too.

No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.

I can get it but I just need the size range, to keep on hand, I'm going to build, play, and do it again.
