Looking for some numbers

Hey folks,


I'm new here, first time posting.


Is there a way to find some established numbers on PM alternator speeds (in rpms, not mph winds) and their output in Amps, etc?


The project I'm working on will have a small PM alternator (if I can build it) of about 4" diameter.  Perhaps larger if I can keep it to a low profile.


The trick is I'll be providing the revolutions by means other than wind, so I'm looking for any tables--if they're out there.


No luck so far.

     No way to answer, too many variables. Give the nice folks here more details of what you are doing and what you want to achieve.

Your 4" rotor size is much too small to be compared to the machine I tested, though.

There is enough information here to answer your question but it is not all in one place and I suspect very few will understand it anyway.


All the emf equations are here and all the detail to work out power ratings from internal resistance. What you will not be able to find is how far you can push the things before they overheat as this factor will be dependant on your application.


Small diameter machines will need high speed to do much in the way of power out. This is true of all designs and not just axials.
