Modifying Car alternator

(1/2) > >>

guruji:
Hi guys I saw on youtube a guy modyfied a car alternator by removing the turning coil with two speaker magnets.

Is this not the most easy and efficient one to acquire a  wind generator than building one from scratch as it is said in work force?

Thanks

tanner0441:
Hi
Speaker magnets have their poles end to end not round the perimeter I would be very skeptical as to its efficiency.
I messed with alternators for nearly 12 months and decided it was a waste of time, I even tried re winding them, they need to turn too fast to do anything useful.
Read on here about car alternators even the commercialy modified ones, also the back bearing is normally a bush and wear out quite quickly.

hiker:
try a truck alt--big bearings -- front and back--bigger lams for more wire..

this one has 42 winds outer coils-maybe #18 wire..[picts at photobucket-cant upload here !!!!!!!!!]

inner coils are 50 winds--lighter gauge wire..

two three phases--9 and 12 combo--two sets of nine coils--12 mags[24acually]

4 rects--2 per for each set of nine coils--

with just the one set of nine i could light up a 50watt bulb-about 8 volts..turning by hand..

should make for a nice little alt........will post story when done--maybe-cant seem

to upload any picts here.............

hmmm........did i just compromize my photobucket site?????

oh well-picts are all stored away...............

kurt:
no you did not comramise your gallery on photobucket people can look at it but they cannot change it or mess with it it is password protected and you did not give out the password. anytime you link a picture from one of those sites a person can trace it back to your home gallery anyway if they want..... but  they cannot hurt nothing by doing that just look at your pictures.
