Yes... it seemed to get quite a bit faster for a bit there, then a couple weeks ago it got quite slow again, some tweaks were made and it's a little better now.  Sorry it's frustrating.  I've not really wanted to talk about this 'till we had some real news, and possibly a time planned for the switch.

We are planning to move (soon) to simple machines forum software.  Doing so is kind of tricky stuff (at least for us) and we seem to have found good help.  The concerns initially in doing this...  would we be able to move all peoples user ID's, and their encrypted passwords...?  would we be able to move all the content in such a way that things remain reasonably well within their sections...

Good news seems to be that all that's mostly done and probably going to work out better than I had expected.  The 'new' board still needs more work and testing however.

At any rate ~ our efforts are moving in that direction and it's doubtful that we will be directing much more effort towards this version of scoop.  At this time it plugs along and works OK... before too long I expect it will all be completely different!

I expect we should definitely be able to have this done by 2015 or so. ;-)  (hopefully much sooner actually)

I don't think it's all that bad actually... (unless you click on recent activity).  I run around here a lot and lately seem to get the upgrading message once or twice a day.  Sometimes it's better... sometimes worse.  According to Alexa.com, average page load time here is just under 2 seconds, and they claim that 59% of websites are slower!  (I find that a bit hard to believe actually)

strange... I don't get it very often anymore.

At any rate...  a big change is underway!  Hopefully it pleases more people than it upsets!

I would have lasted a lot longer if I didn't keep hitting the Recent Activity button

I wonder why it is working so well for me? The only problem I have had is going to NEWBIES.

Then it takes about 10 to 15 seconds to get there.

Thanks much Dan. I hope the transition is as seamless as can be expected. I for one have no problem re registering etc. We will deal with whatever it throws us.

thats the cool thing... nobody is going to have to reregister.  I was quite worried about that being the case, it could be an admin nightmare, especially if (when) some folks decide to change user ID's.  So it does seem wonderful to me that all user names along with passwords have been migrated, as has all the content (up to a couple days ago anyhow - we'll have to do an 'update' right before we switch over).

"migrated... all the content"?

Meaning all the old posts will be displayed and function in the new software? (Wow!)

yes exactly!  They may however not be perfectly organized.  We're making slight changes to topics and there will be some misplaced stuff but overall it should be pretty good and very searchable.

G;

And, what is really strange is that some Ghurd character has the overall highest post count at over 5,000 which was interesting.

It looks good and sure looks like they pulled in everything. Search works well. Internal messaging, edit your posts lots of cool stuff on tap.

A few wrinkles to iron out but with it this close it is just configuration and some testing. I am just a Beta Tester now not involved in the migration directly. On a bug hunt. ;=}.

Simple Machines Forum will be a lot easier for users and admins alike. Looking forward to going live.

That's because I reply when it's not necessary.

I still see no need for an eidt button.  ;)

After my first reply I went and checked the stats. Too much to read every post but the numbers surely imply a LOT of content was moved:

124441 Posts in 13628 Topics and 19,822 registered users.

Posts from 2003 through this year.

Looks complete to me!

Lots of statistical data with SMF.

Just FYI.
