Picture rules interpretation
« on: March 27, 2010, 01:47:49 PM »
I was thinking about your 100k and 640x480 pic limit, and I was wondering if it was because of the server cost or the users with dial-up.

On other forums, they like people to use photo hosting sites, so IF I wanted to post say a 12 megapixel photo, would I be allowed to use a site like tinypic.com?

actually it is normally preferred if you host your photos here so that your photos do not disappear with time so that new users can go back and look at them. the photo rules are both for server space as each users file upload area is limited in scoop and huge photos mess up the sites formatting in some browsers when you embed them in the post. also it pisses dialup users off big time when you embed huge photos in a story no matter what browser they are using and it is not good net etiquette to embed huge photos in a web page. if you think it is critical to show a really high resolution photo then host it off site and link to it do not embed it and post a large pic warning.
