Should we keep intro text?
« on: March 31, 2003, 07:21:29 PM »
I limited it to 30 words for that reason -- but I kinda like it, since on the old board you couldn't always tell what a message was *about* just by reading the title.

The other problem is the intro submission box is hard-coded into the board, so it might take awhile to dig in there and change it. At the very least, I want to reduce the intro submit box in size...same problem it's hard-coded in.

Please let us know what you think!

Keep Intro text?

I vote leave it.
It does help you know more about what is there.

I say lose the 30 character intro and add some color, also the "New" in red always catches my eye on the old board....
Why change things that work?? Never understood that one..
Thanks!

I say lose it too! It takes up too much space.

Intro text - redundant?
« Reply #4 on: April 01, 2003, 12:05:52 PM »
Hi guys.

My own opinion is that the intro text is a bit unneccessary.  I just generally use the "title" field as an introduction.

Can you dump the intro text and simply increase the subject line size to 30 or 40 chars?  Is there a limit to the subject line size? (I would imagine there might be)

Personally, I think the subject line and intro are pretty much the same.

P.S.  Can it also be set up so that if you are replying to a current post, that the "subject line" is auto-populated instead of having to manually type a subject?  If someone really wants to modify the subject line on their reply, they can always do it prior to posting.

I misunderstood exactly what was being talked about. With more time in this new environment I now understand the question. I think it is unnecessary to have the intro text. I thought you where asking about the "Subject" Line. The place for the intro text is where I was putting my messages? :}
