Questions about posting
« on: May 08, 2003, 11:20:30 AM »
1. leave a space between paragraphs of text, or start a new paragraph. The keyboard ENTER key does not do it.

Why not let us use normal word processing that every one is familiar with?

2. Is it possible to include an image in a comment to a post, or do you have to start a new thread in order to post an image?

This is the most difficult discussion board that I have ever tryed to use!

Ed - Ill have to check our FAQ.. if this stuff isn't there it should be.

If you want to post an image in a comment (where you dont get the option to do so automaticly..) do this...

If you have your image uploaded on the web somewhere,  get the URL, and you post the image like this:

<img src=" in here is where you stick the URL for the  image">

And if you want a space between paragraphs, (or between your images and your text) just insert <p> where you'd like the space.

When you post a message or a comment, if you want your html to work, it has to be HTML formatted.

Does this make sense?

If I ever figure out what's in the box then maybe I can think outside of it.

Don't worry -- there's lots of changes coming to the board to make it easier to use.

To insert a line break in your posting -- insert a  <P> or <BR>.

OR -- if you don't need or want to use HTML in your posts, go to your Comment Preferences, under Post Mode, and change from "HTML formatted" to "Plain Text." -- if it's plain text you can just use a normal Enter key, just like typing normally.

Auto Format
Ed;

If you set that drop down menu between "preview" and "post" to "Auto Format" it will keep your text spacing / paragraphs etceterra and if you toss in some links it automagically makes them clickable.

Personally I think it should be the default setting but its not.

It will keep the setting between visits too.

Cheers.

I agree with Tom, Autoformat should be the default setting.

Looking forward to seeing the new improved board!

You should see him try to use a magnet with no energy.

kidding, kidding, IIIIMMMMMMMM Kiddddddingggggg!

Yeah Ed, it took me a while to get use to this board too but I'm glad they are going to work the bugs out of it instead of just giving up. he he, because I can see how this board offers alot more now that I am more familliar with it.  Takes a while.

I can't keep my smart allic yap shut tonight, I'd better take some Nyquil and go to bed.

The "Plain Text" option is in that box next to the "Preview" button.  This allows for spacing your text but I'll still look cooler in our debates.  Okay that's it, I need a diode to keep my mouth from running.
