need inspection of solar system in house I want to buy
« on: March 24, 2004, 04:47:50 AM »
I've tried the yellow pages and the internet but haven't found anything local.  I'm in Northwest Indiana on the shores of Lake Michigan.  Thanks in advance for your advice.

juliedealer;

Is it solar electric, solar space heating or solar water heating or a combination of all three? I don't normally do that type thing and am quite far from you but with a few details we might find someone who could at least give you an idea if any of it is functioning properly. Barring that perhaps we could give you some things to check for obvious problems.

Frankly, I don't believe I have ever heard of anyone specifically doing this.

Cheers.

First I'd try your county planing and zoneing office. If they don't have a qualified inspector they should be able to point you in the right direction.

It may be worth trying to contact the admin at  http://www.homepower.com  They may be able to piont you to installers in your area, who should be able to inspect the system.

Good luck,

Gordy

I wonder how far away from you these folks are...

(Lake Michigan Wind and Sun)

Perhaps, even if they are a bit too far away, a phone call to them might put you in touch with somebody qualified in your area.

It's wise to have the system inspected...  even if it does work, it might be a mess (like mine!!)...

If I ever figure out what's in the box then maybe I can think outside of it.
