Excel Energy

Merry Christmas to you all.

Did anyone look at the brochure that Excel Energy sends out with the bills?

They advised in this months brochure that customers should consider buying home generators for power outages.

I haven't heard anything like this before.

Any comments?

Sure it'd be a great idea.  I can just see a bunch of engineers sitting around saying "If we recommend this and people call in for advice we can send them to our little (privately owned) company and we'll make a mint."  Anybody for conflict of interest?  On the other hand, maybe they know something we don't.

hehe, we live in rural canada here, and we have a much better reliability here than our local power company with our homebrew stuff (ok, my genny died, but everything was up and running, we still had power all through that).

The grid goes down on average 10 to 15 times per year, sometimes much more. Usually lightning induced, and that's discounting the 14th of august last year.

Now if they would advise us to go and install windmills & solar, that would be something !
