what pc programs /sites do you use the most ?
« on: December 10, 2005, 03:52:31 AM »
i use this one all the time.

it is free , and very intuitive ie use right click a lot..

http://www.emachineshop.com/download/index.htm

as with any program there is a little learning curve , but not much of one with this one.

this pic is a final design that i made with the program , Actual SIZE !! it took three pieces of paper

http://www.otherpower.com/images/scimages/2965/Picture_212.jpg

I hate to see good people wasting their valuable time , so i hope this program will help ..

And i can help anyone who wants to use it.

this one i use alot also. it converts anything to anything else.

http://www.digitaldutch.com/unitconverter/

this one lists the resistance , ohms 1000 feet of all wire sizes..

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Tables/wirega.html

lol i use this one too

merriam-websters online dictionary

A good picture size for upload is 640x480

the picture you sent won't even fit my computer screen

would be bad to be a Dial-Up user with that one

I believe the Windows Paint program can resize your pictures...

Please dont waste
« Reply #5 on: December 10, 2005, 08:07:41 AM »
PLEASE dont waste your energy and time constructing a poorly thought out gen.

if you are making an axiel flux gen, stick to proven designs.

The 3/4 rule is the MOST IMPORTANT , when making a three phase gen.

that is your coil to magnet ratio.

For example ,3/4 * 2/2 = 6/8 :: six coils to 8 magnets.

3/4 * 3/3 = 9/12 :: nine coils to 12 magnets.

and so on..

my favorite is 3/4 *6/6 = 18/24 :: eighteen coils to 24 magnets

How simple is TOO simple?

I'm not overly concerned if NASA can do it. I have to be able to do it.

I use excel, values of 1,1,1.. or 1,2,1,2... whatever.

Then make a pie chart, remove the colors, print a few copies.

A thick layer of newspapers and the chart on the 'fridge, then a few of the real magnets, then I measure.

Fast, simple, reusable.

Short comings show quickly.

Like the dia is too big, 1000 turns won't fit...

I leave them there for a month or 3 with the others for comparisions.

And it's a handy place to stick keychains. Coupons. Mail. The neighbors cat.

YES! My wife hates it.  A lot.

coil to pole ratio
« Reply #7 on: December 11, 2005, 09:17:21 AM »
I ment to say coil to pole ratio.

3/4 should have been coils to pole ratio  , not coil to magnets, because coil to poles is a more accurate way to state the same ratio..because a dual rotor can have twice the number of magnets , and still have the same number of poles .. sorry for any confusion..

Yes. She was sore for 2 days, and didn't fish for the next 2 hours. It was about 46", but it didn't cooperate with the tape measure, and we wanted to release it unharmed.

Try these...

AVG Antivirus (for free)

http://Free.Grisoft.com

ZoneAlarm Firewall (just install the free portion of their download)

http://www.zonelabs.com

Adaware 1.06  (Anti-Spyware free version is somewhere there)

http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Spybot 14 (Another Anti-Spyware program)

http://safer-networking.org

Ummm.

Do I have to reccomend the last "free" Anti-Spyware program that I use?

Microsoft has an anti-spyware download for Windows XP

http://www.microsoft.com

I could list a few other utilities, but these should help augment your safety online.  Unfortunately, you have to use the Ala-Cart method if you want to use free stuff.

Lots of cool "homebrewed projects" on this site:

Some good stuff here too.  Also they have a monthly magazine (which is free if you are willing to get last month's issue).
