i did near the same thing on my last genny...i was going to pour the fiberglass into the makeshift mould i had made to hold the magnets in place, and i put a 6" diameter piece of wood in the middle...well,i figured i needed something to hold the wood cylinder down so the fiberglass wouldn't leak under the center piece...over on the bench i noticed a nice 1" thick x 10" diameter steel disc....i thought that will hold it down nicely....without thinking, i went to place the steel disc on the center and KABOOM!
just about tore my fingers off....i sported a nice sized blood blister on one of my fingers for a couple weeks, and i was lucky to get away with that...
seems i have taught myself a valuable lesson, hard learned...always, always keep your mind on the imminent danger of those magnets..it took me 45 minutes to get those plates apart and if they had been even bigger magnets, i don't know if i could have gotten them apart at all.....thanks for the post...it is always good to have reminders of safety...good luck on your project ..pickster
