Blemished solar panels?
« on: May 09, 2005, 04:46:41 PM »
I found these on epay, seem like a good deal?  I wrote the seller, who says the blemishes do not affect output.  I also asked what "for use outside the US" meant, but got no response.

Fine print can kill you.

Maybe they are crap. But totally expect them to be sold and used in the US.

So any warrenty is totally void?

Loop holes tighten both ways.

Thats only about 15% under retail for a similar 1st quality product.

They have specials all the time. I think when they buy the blems from the factory they have to sign a waiver saying they will only sell outside the US. That way the factory doesn't lose sales. If you notice, all the shipping is priced for the US. Those are string cells and if you look at evergr they offer a lot of different panels that are very close in output but the same number of cells. They match the cells for output and rate the panels accordingly. Less waste, less rejects.

Good panels...good marketing.

I've got sun's site bookmarked, watching for a deal on another inverter.
