Updating the FAQs? Volunteers?
« on: May 25, 2006, 10:06:54 PM »
Hey, I have noticed how newbies' questions sometimes drive the grumpy old men a little crasy. :) :)  (I am joking with you, put the gun down. :))

So generally the re-re-repeat newby questions get some sort of half-ass answer, and there is not really a concise library of established information to review and self-education from.

All of that said . . . is why the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) exist, right?

And it appears our FAQs are a bit light and old, correct?

I am pondering that if there were an interest, we could probably break up the areas we cover by "subject matter experts" and cover it all and update the FAQs with out a huge pain or effort to anyone in particular?  Does that make sense?

Anyway, if needed, I will help do an update for Electrical Power System -- my real area -- and I thought I would start this thread to see if there would be interest for all the other areas the board covers.

I think it's a fantastic idea.... and something that really needs done.

But how to get the ball rolling... that be the question...

Correlate general subject for last 10,000 posts & look for repetitions?

How about Dixie writing a FAQ on Buckhorn Canyon?

I'd Like to help in that, I dont think im experience enough to give opinions on things but i have searched through the boards for 7 months.

I think the best way for it to work might be this:

Step 1:

The less "inventive/experienced" such as me can look through the board and old board and group GOOD(to be determined with common sense, this will filter out the crap or redundant stuff) post regarding certain subjects, blade design, Blade carving, Coil Winding, Frame Building, Batteries, basically any topic the person wants.

Step 2:

Then a Discussion can be started where Ideas can debated and any Solid information can be decided(sum is obviously concrete at this stage) and any difference of opinions can be noted.

Step 3:

Last but equally important, Sumone who is Good at writing can write the article explaining the concrete stuff and noting the different beliefs?

Anyone Agree  or Disagree?
