Why do comments get tossed

Just wondering?I could see if the comment was nasty.I guess its your sight and if the contents arent agreeable you have the right.

 Shortly after commenting things dissapear.By no means am i against how you guys do things.This is a great board.

I was totally and completely off topic so it got hidden. I did it and I did not see it had any comments. Probably a matter of timing.

Otherwise we had some join to post ads posts that were removed but as far as I know none had comments.

This is more explaining than I usually do because it just draws fire.

I don't see the point of crying to the members about it myself but thats your prerogative I guess.

Just to be clear:

We Do NOT delete much of anything and only rarely do we remove comments. I have no clue what comment you are talking about specifically because you don't give enough info. Recent activity listing links disappearing may be anything and most likely a glitch because I looked and no comments have been removed recently according to the log.

Today, yesterday, last week, last month or last year? By who and attached to which story?

I get the other problem with recent activity, it has links that never go away.

From where I sit, I often see the good folk in IRC comment about new posts here, sometimes I reckon its before the poster has even taken their finger off the "enter" key!

The IRC channel has several folk who "have the power" to do things on the forums - and often do when it's spam, porn or similar "unsuitable" material.

Perhaps you experienced one of these, where it "dissappeared right away" if it was off-topic or inappropriate and came to the attention of someone who could do something about it.

Vautman for some reason scoop removes a post from your recent activity list after you have read it. sometimes i wish it did'nt , but its in the software...if you need to save a post , its best save it in your windows favorites..

Tom, Im sorry i used the wrong word in my post.Should have used the word replies instead of comments.I see how that started confusion.Willib has it right.

 What is scoop when you have a chance?

 I like to read the recent activity section when i check in sometimes there are 40 replies and sometimes has few has 10.

 Also you dont have to answer this if your busy but i have many many past stories/replies that i replied to that dont go away.

 I could never write a book everybody that read it would go nuts.
