Ah yes, that would be my fault. The domain did expire for about 2 hours. But it's all OK now.
Domain registrations in Australia are controlled by melbourneit.com.au, and they will send out a email a month before the domain fees are due, but I changed my email address some time ago due to excessive spam, and forgot to tell MelbourneIT. So the "Your domain registration" bill is due, you bill is overdue, and the final warning emails went into the big black void of dead email addresses.
I've paid for a further 5 years of registration, so I'll be around for a while yet, or at least until I miss the next payment because I changed my email address and forgot to tell MelbourneIT.
But thanks for noticing, at least I now know people visit my web site
