The system does seem to be a little amnesiac sometimes.  I've at least one posting disappear into the void, and not because it was killed by an admin!

 Happens to me all the time. I just thought the powers that be disliked me. Hmmm.

 Lets see if this makes it.

bob;

I assure you, none of the "staff" has killed any stories from you. I looked at the log. I don't think any comment has been deleted that was not SPAM at all.

It is a kind of given lately that the board is not "healthy" and this may be another symptom.

Sorry you lost some posts. Might be good to keep a copy of postings in a text editor until you see them display awhile after you submit. We have people working on a solution.

Cheers.

thanks tom, i guess it must have been my end. because i am on a very slow gprs connection though my mobile phone sometimes i have to refresh the page before it goes though. i always wait for the comment posted part to come up which it did in this case. so guess it best be some bug in the system somewhere. one of the posts was to jans question about inverters, cant remember the other one think it was about the supercaps but not sure. using most of my remaining 2 brain cells trying to read patents on stuff i dont understand. written in lawyerise ;-))

cheers

Yes I have had one go poof along with the fact some parts of the site I need to slide sideways to read the very expanded sentences. Strange....

I bought an amplifier for my cell phone and use it instead of dial up at a download speed of 186 kbps compared to 33 with dial. $50 for the Yagi and $200,00 for the Amp from Wilson Electronics. I feel it was well worth it if you have a signal without it it will double with the amp. I use ATT Laptop Connect $60 for unlimited use per month.

hi Tim,

thanks for that. i did look up  Wilson electronics. i am using gprs in the UK so not sure if that is same as dial up? there is a 3g mast about 5 miles away but not sure i have line of site to that one. guess the best thing is to find the base station i connect to,i am in the country so there are only 2 on 3 in the area and park as close as possible and do a speed test first.

cheers
