« on: February 24, 2008, 05:21:00 PM »
I left my cheapie 40 dollar Cobra out in the rain last fall.I shouldn't be allowed to use high tech gadgets at least that's what my daughter claims :>)

Just wondering if anyone else hear has that brand and how you size pics for here?

Ps, i know this isn't re related buts needed to share my projects.

Several programs can do it. Googling for Windows XP image resizer powertoy will get you a simple one that appears when you right click an image.

You could also use any image editing program to reduce the size, EG, Paint, Photoshop, etc...

if you have a habit of leaving stuff out in the rain, I would get a weather proof camera, say an Olympus Stylus 790 SW, not a cheapy but nice and tough

altogether we got a lot of snow this year !

but a lot of thaws as well

only 1.5 feet left in the yard right now.

it's when it gets over two feet deep on the roof i start to get concerned

we keep getting  big squalls  off  the lake.

it melts back but then we get more.

i'm sick of shoveling !

google a program called irfanview then all you have to do is open the image you want to size with irfanview click image at the top of the screen select resize/resample a box should open click the little dot next to 640 x 480 pixels in that box then click ok. next click file then click save as a box should pop up select file type .jpg. select a place to save it to were you will be able to find it.  then rename the file. then over to the right set picture quality to 50%. that should do it you should have a resized photo of small enough file size to be posted here.

Just set your camera to take your pictures in VGA or E-Mail format. Then the pictures will come right out of the camera at the proper size. All digital cameras have these settings.

Thirty one inches.  That's after 217 inches fell.  We've been above average on snowfall for four months now.  And I'm still in the States (north of you).  Have a nice day.

GIMP is a free full feature photo editor, it's open source and available for Linux, MAC or windows.

Image re-sizing is easy using the scale tool, also cropping is easy. Plenty of tutorials O/L on how to use it.

Also, if you wish to get into more serious picture editing, you have the tool!
