buyers beware
« on: October 09, 2009, 07:42:03 AM »
i ordered a 12v switching valve from frybird.

they Emailed me that it would be shipped soon.

i ordered some other things from two other places and got the parts within a week.

i tried to call frybird and see if the part i ordered from them was comming, didnt get to talk to any one, but the recording said they would get back to me.

not hearing from them in a couple days.,i emailed them to stop my order, that i would buy the valve somewhere else.

4 weeks gone buy and i got my visa bill. guess what. they charged me for the valve the day i ordered it.

i've never had a business charge me any thing for a product until it was shipped.

it's been about 6 weeks now and after 3 emails and a phone call,i've heard nothing.

i just want the readers to have a Heads Up!  it cost me $109.00 to find this out for myself.

commets welcome thanks: getterdone

i'm not sure where this should be posted

moved to reviews as it definitely does not belong in classifieds as you are not trying to sell something.

Yep, seems to be the modus-operendi for him now.

Bummer, way back when WVO was young he was the ONE that everyone turned to.

Guess fame got  to him?

The deiselstop forum is a clearing house for tons of this stuff.

If it's on your CC you can get it back by filling out a complaint, then FTC gets involved, but don't wait too much longer and make sure and keep the records of your attempts.

I think this would be better over in the new Reviews section.

Kurt or TomW can you move?

Cheers

File with your CC company as they have time limits.

Call them immediately before time expires.

I ordered from him a while back also. Never got my stuff. Filed a claim with paypal, and they couldnt do anything. Chris kept telling me the stuff would ship, and i believed him for some reason. It never did, and to make a long story short, he walked away with $500 from me that I never saw again. Ive posted to other forums, including frybrid forum about this. Sorry to hear you got bit too :-/

Hi

My wife sells tee-shirts and things online and uses PayPal as the go between.

It is actually very common to have credit card processing to occur prior to shipping.

In fact I don't know of any online buisness that does not take the money first prior to shipping.

Also If you contact PayPal (i'm assuming PayPal is involved) and state that the product was not shipped, They will immediately take your money back from the vendor while the dispute is on going. It is your right according to paypal that if the product is not shipped in a reasonable amount of time, that you are entitled to your money back.

The person who posted that PayPal did nothing rings false to me.

The other approach to have your CC company take the money back is also a good approach. Act quickly.

Anyway good luck to you and i hope you get your money back!

PayPal never once helped me.

My favorite?

Bought an item from UK.  Waited like 2 weeks.  Contacted seller. No response. Repeat.

Contacted PayPal (and eBay), who said to try again.  I did.

Contacted PayPal again, who said to wait another week or 10 days in case it takes a long time to ship from UK to US, so I did.

Contacted PayPal again, who said wait just a tiny bit longer, and try to contact the seller again, so I did.

Contacted PayPal again, who said it was past the time limit, and they could do nothing...

because I waited too long!

Ghurd,

I had an almost exact experience dealing with Paypal. I do not order anything now from those accepting only a Paypal arrangement. My loss maybe but being stung once is enough.  Dave B.
