'the average wind velocity during these 12 months was 3.8 meters per second (slightly higher than average)'

That is very low for 'a very windy place' no wonder they did not proform very well.

They tested 12 store-bought wind generators.

Three of them broke before the end of the test, they were the ...

Swift

Raum and

Windwalker

Seven of them performed poorly ...

WRE 060

Airdolphin

WRE 030

Energy Ball

Passaat

Turby

Ampair

Two of them were 4 times better than the others but actual usability was questionable ...

Skystream and

Montana

I can't find the Dutch link on that webpage ?

Morality of the story:

1)commercially available SMALL windmills are economically not viable.

2)The bigger, the better(Skystream and Montana were the biggest).

3.8 m/s is 8.5 MPH...

Not even cut-in for most small turbines.

I think they're F.O.S.

Hello,

The result was also posted in an alternative farmers magazine that we get here.

What I could make up out of that article was that it was expensive and the windmill wouldn't really produce the same amount of electricity as the specs.

That's why I build a windmill myself in the first place.

Greetings,

WEllll...   Blow me DOWN !!!  ack... ack...  ack...  ack...

What wind speed ~ARE~ these little turbines rated for that were tortured, highly abused and exposed to these rip-roaring 8.5 MPH average winds anyway ??

Not to mention... they site the "average energy usage of a household" they never talk about reducing that! Seriously, if you were in the market for one of those turbines... you would probably already have that in mind. Some people don't take the right approach to saving money, that's for sure.
