150W PMG

Is anyone familiar with this alternator?

Specifications:

Permanent Magnet synchronous AC device with a 3-phase full wave diode bridge for rectification to DC. Also referred to as BLDA or brushless DC. The device outputs in DC power. 150 W suggested max power output. Manufacturer unknown. Made in South Korea.


Size: 7" diameter x 1" tall

Mass: 2kg (4.5 lbs)

Torque net output coefficient: 1.7 Nm/A (1.2 ft-lb/A)

Internal Resistance: 11 ohms/leg and is "Y" wound.

Net Output Resistance: 22 ohms

Max Power: ~ 150W dc

Output Voltage: 0-50V dc

Strange device.

The 3.9A at 57V to start with.

Then peaks out at 250W at 500RPM.

At 150W output, the coils are dissipating 335W of heat.  Not very efficient, 31%?

Seems like anything that slow, with a limited amount of power, would not be the best choice when trying to match the balance of a windmill.


I can't think of anything it would be very suited to.

Maybe the large version of the HF garden mill blades?
