How to calculate power of the panel
« on: September 03, 2005, 08:24:50 PM »
I would like someone to comment my thoughts about panel output.

I plan to use .55V, 4500 mA, 2.3 watts, 5"x5" cells for my panel.

The cels would be connected in series.

I calculate that I would use 36 cells ( for max. voltage of 18V ).

I'll have 18V and 4.5A, that is 81 Watts.

Am I correct?

Can anyone suggest something else? This is my first panel.

Thanks!

Yup,

That is about right!

Many commercial panels have 36 cells in them and the actual VOC is about 19-21V and if you are doing a 12V system, is good for a charging circuit.
