In 1954 a wealthy lady radiologist devised a Solar water heater made from scrap 1" [30mm] iron pipe, planks and aluminium kitchen foil. Temperatures of 140 F [65 C] reported. [Hampshire] Construction details and some background data available. As far as is known this device has not been made much use of so far.
