Hi all,
Thought you might like to see some pics of my tracker that I got up and running yesterday. It's basically an equatorial telescope mounting (in fact I adapted one I made years ago in my astronomy days) with the main axis pointing to the north pole. The panel angle can be adjusted to suit the time of year. The drive is an 8 inch gear wheel driven by a worm and geared down 12 volt motor. The electronics are the Redrock LED3 which appears to work perfectly. The panels are a BP Solar 585 (80 Watts) and a Shell Solar SP75 (75 Watts) wired in parallel to charge a 12 volt battery bank. Will be changing to 24 volt soon so they will then be wired in series. I hope the tracker will give a substantial increase in the panel output here in the sun starved UK!
I bet the neighbours definitely think I'm mad now! (wait till the wind genny appears!)
John
