Solar Panel Laminate (this may be redundant!)
« on: January 07, 2005, 01:50:25 AM »
Hello,

I've attempted to bring this up before, so I may be *redundant here, BUT...

Does anyone know of any good sources for *laminating over solar cells on the =>front of the panels?

The plastic sheeting they sell at Home Depot, etc. looks way too milky.

That milky coating is a thin plastic sheet which is on both sides of the Plexiglas to protect it. You peel it off and have clear Plexiglas.

Just realized that you may be talking about the plastic used in protecting pictures and such. This will clear once heated. The stick on kind will stay milky. I think if you read more postings you'll find these two items not suitable for use on the cells because of expansion and contraction.

Yes, I was reading the other thread on expansion and contraction...  I'd like something to lay over the cells, seal, and then suck out excess air bubbles with a vacuum hose.

I believe it's exp/cont material itself, but I'm not positive.

If you could vaccum pack the material it would be nice
