Great output or not?
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:06:19 PM »
During a good afternoon when the sun is at it's average high, I noticed that my amp reading for my panels were putting out at 40 plus amps. Is that pretty good or what? I would estimate that my solar panels are at an average of 19 volts. What do you think about my amp readings? I figure the more panels you have, the better you would be off in recharging the battery storage, at a faster pace, with a good working charge controller, right?

It depends on how big the panels are as to whether 40 amps is good or not, but I would certainly think it is. Thats around 400w at 12v if im not mistaken. (19v panels are usually 12v).

I think I placed it on equalization when I got that reading and I will calculate the panels to figure out the readings which shall be just estimates. I'm using the Arco and Carrizo panels and they seem to be working fine. I had them for quite a few years now. My battery bank are 12 volt deep cycle batteries and I have 10 in parallel connection. I'll send more info as soon as make some more calculations.
