Building a solar panel frame
« on: February 29, 2008, 04:36:00 AM »
I am in the process of making my first solar panel. I played around on eBay and picked up some cells for $1 a Watt so I am making a 50W panel.

Does anyone have any recommendations on materials and sealants to make my frame and enclosure out of? I was thinking of using aluminum U channel and Plexiglas but would love to hear what you all have to say about this thought.

Thanks,

Richard J. Crews

I would buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/Solar-Panels-Cells-How-To-Guide-Ver-1-5-EVA-Update_W0QQitemZ350035285233QQihZ022
QQcategoryZ41981QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It explained everything I needed to know, on how to build a solar panel. It also takes about how you only need one side of plexi. Also on how to encapsulate the cells.
