19 ton graphite storage of surplus wind energy
« on: December 01, 2007, 04:47:12 AM »
Friends,

Storage story - yes, homepower - no! Claims: Six 19 tonne container-sized storage boxes can store between 3.5 and 5.5 MWhours.

Company: CBD, a subsidiary of German solar co. with name Solon AG. This co. is building a AUS$15 mio. renewable energy system on King Island, Oz.

Claims: Wind without storage uses only 30% of available energy, while with this graphite storage 60% of total wind energy is used.

The stored heat is extracted via piping water through the containers and then used to drive a steam turbine.

Regards,
