Car Micro Turbine
« on: June 02, 2005, 02:37:05 PM »
Soon I'm going to be on the road possibly driving doing several 200 mile runs a week, so I was thinking of building a micro turbine to mount onto a bike rack. On the motorways it'd get 70mph winds and faster if you're driving into the wind and it'd cause much less drag then driving with your window open at 70mph.

I'd like to use the power I got from it to charge batteries to run my laptop on, I'd prefer to charge a lead acid as it could keep the laptop running for much longer than the 2 hours it survives now. Also using a commercial car charger for it would mean if I stopped I'd have to keep the engine running so the battery doesn't go flat while I'm doing some work while having some lunch. Also by then I'll probably need the cigarette lighter to light cigs while driving to go agent hunting.

Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated :)

Your car already has the alt and storage battery built in. Use them. If you need extra storage add a larger deep cycle battery for use when you are stopped.
