Wooden Alternator
« on: January 01, 2006, 05:27:22 PM »
I am interested to build a wooden alternator to sumplement charging on my truck.  I have an eight inch fan blade laying around.  I was wondering if exhanging low rpms big propeller, for high rpms small propeller would work.  I know that fans are designed to move air not neccessalry be moved.  However, when I start going down the road at 65 mph it will move any way.  I was thinking about mounting it on the roof, but then I though about the front of the vehicle, mounted onto the bumper or such.  Also I was thinking it might be nice to use a small chain to remote mount the propeller.

Has anybody got any advice or good ideas if this will work or not?
