Ironless Wound Rotor Induction Generator
« on: March 25, 2006, 11:45:57 PM »
I am looking for coil design information.  I am interested in designing a larger Direct drive wind turbine. I read a paper on a utility scale turbine concept using an ironless stator with a permanent magnet rotor which indicated a ratio of blade diameter to the air gap diameter along with the basic generator design. I'd like to make the both the rotor and stator ironless and wound, though.  This is where I am having trouble finding information. Everything I can find is about permanent magnet rotors, so I have no idea how to come up with reasonably sized coils or even how many coils I will need for the rotor.  I appreciate any information anyone can give me on this subject.

Thanks,

Howie
