Santa brought me some wind.
« on: December 25, 2004, 08:04:48 PM »
Check the reading on my weather station this morning. My anamoeter was reading 19.1 mph.

This was good cause for the last month its been 0 to about 3 mph.

I've got the 2 KW conversion up on the tower so I thought I'd better check battery voltage. I have a 48 volt system. 22 helicopter 24 volt batteries wired for 48 volts.

They are 44 AH each. This equals 484 AH at 48 volt.

Good thing I checked. Voltage was up to about 67v. I tryed real quick to turn on the inverter but voltage was to high. So I hooked up a 1,100 watt 120 v heater element. This after a few minutes brought the voltage down to 56v. The inverter was OK with this voltage and started up. I ran the inverter for about an HR. Then we had to go to the daughters house for a few HRs. I shut the inverter down but left the heater load on while we were gone. Just got home and volts are at 52.5v so all is well.

I didn't think I'd ever need a dump load here because of our pore winds. But the 2 kw motor conversion is making good power so I may have to rethink that?

The heat felt good from the heater even at 1/2 its voltage.

Anyway thanks Santa. Mery christmas everyone.

Hi Picster.

Mine came from Costco. Its an Oregon Scientific advanced wireless weather station.

All the sencers transmite wireless. I've got a crankup platform on the tower. I mounted the anamoniter and its solar panel there.

This unit is fairly easy just mount plug and play.

I have not had enough wind to register yet.

The furnace blower is pushing air out at 14 MPH!  Guess that means it works.
