F&P Floating Hub - Part II
« on: January 26, 2005, 06:40:11 AM »
This shorter photo shows one of two pillow block bearings on the left. I am using two pillow block bearings as I do not trust the washing machine bearing too much. It is only used to centre the stator within the rotor.

The bolt on the floating hub attaches the stainless steel bar which holds the prop. The smaller flange is attached to the alternator shaft by means of eight M6 grub screws, which bite into the spline shaft. M6 ~ 1/4".

Rather than having one bolt on the prop flange then hit a bolt on the alternator flange I am thinking of a spring loaded flat bar being hit by the bolt on the prop flange. Once the spring expands it should (hope, hope) turn the cogging alternator.

Probably pretty good now if you would have

edited the picture to about 640 x 480 instead of

1638 x 1229, I mean you took the time to white

out irrelevant parts of the pic just a little

more time toward reducing the size before you

upload ......I've seen this excuse posted before

It looked fine on my browser/monitor/

screen, so I assumed it would be okay on everybodys

There's that word assume and you know what

 they say about that.....

My apologies, being a newbie and a mere lecturer in IT who knows more about 8086 assembler and operating systems, but nothing about photos. Have managed to reduce the size in kb and now found out with new photo software how to reduce the image size, too. It will not happen again.
