Axial Flux Finally
« on: August 11, 2005, 11:20:31 PM »
After several months of hard work and fun, we finally put up our new axial flux turbine last Saturday. The new turbine is replacing the brake drum turbine design that we have been running for about a year and a half. Now we are waiting for some good wind to give it a real test!

Here are some pictures to share with everyone.

Nice mill, BTW.

Hi Craig.  Very nice, I like the nose cone, is it a stainless steel pan of some kind, and what are you using for a bering assembly?

Great fun, harrie

Thanks for the nice comments. The nose cone is a stainless steel salad bowl. It really seems to give it a more finished look. I buy these at a local department store. They are innexpensive and they fit perfectly.
The hub that I used was from a Cavalier. It's the hub recommended in Hugh's plans for the 8' and 10' turbines. The 12' uses a slightly larger hub.

Very nice.

I like that nose cone too. I was going to make nose cones when I get bigger stuff flying, but that salad bowl idea is great and I'll probably do that instead of making aluminum nose cones.

Nice tower too.
