I'm looking to build a Savonious wind generator, I was wondering if anyone could point in the direction of any specifications for building such a design.

The original Savonius rotor is a closed S-shaped rotor. It is better to use an open S-shaped rotor, letting the wind pass to the back of the rotor.

Google 'Sandia Savonious'. Here and on the web.

Someone here posted a nice diagram once.

The National Labs at Sandia did some nice research, but it could have gone a lot farther.

Ed at windstuff now made several prototypes with a small change. He calls it a lentz turbine. If you click on any comments he has made, then click on his homepage, it's under vwat. hope this helps... The largset prototype there was 2 feet by 2 feet I think. He has thoughts posted there that may help you. Great website! Lots of experiments and interests documented.  Gary D.
