I also prefer feet and inches however I am not sure about the generator power in watts.  The results seem to be extremely high or that is in comparison to other programs.

I have tried at least three other programs of which the cord and angle etc seem to be similar, but when it comes to watts output they all very wildly.

Is there a reason for this?

hi,

The power output is the mechanical power driving your generator,

if your generator is only 60% efficient you need to multiply the power by 0.6

The blade efficiency is a important factor to get right.

The 1.8m turbine had a measured efficiency of 0.3 when the blades were operating at a TSR of 10.

realistic value would be 0.25, see the measured TSR vs efficiency curve on the 1.8m turbine results.

http://www.warlock.com.au/2kwbladesandgenerator-abstract.htm

to get the program to include the generator losses in its calculation, combine the generator efficiency with the blade efficiency.

eg. for a 60% efficient generator and 25% efficient blades, The total efficency of your turbine is 0.15 (calculated by 0.6 x 0.25) this value can be used for the input value for blade efficiency

Hope that helps,

Michael.
