At the very end of the video on this page the kid took off in about 10 feet. Full throttle, release the brakes and rotate. There is a picture of the vortex tabs on the leading edge of his wing to increase lift and prevent stall.

If you made your prop like his wing it would make lots of power at low rpm.

If that take off was any shorter it would be VTOL  .

When he lands his ground speed is almost walking speed, if you look close at the orange plastic pylon you can see a streamer that is blowing straight back, it looks like he may have a 40 mph head wind, that's gonna have a big effect on the length needed for takeoff.

  71-- Might be the same theory as the Humpback inspired blades.  Looked them up about 6 months ago, and nothing new, still testing.
Initial data looked promising, so maybe they are being cautious.

Vortex generators in and of themselves don't increase lift or prevent stall.  Done correctly they can help maintain laminar flow across a surface.  On a wing they can help delay a stall.
Nothing's free... VGs almost always come with an increase in drag.

Like fabricator pointed out... he's got a pretty good headwind to play with.
