Engineering Recomendation G83/1
« on: January 11, 2007, 11:25:51 AM »
Hi everyone,  I live in the UK so this question is probably only related to the UK and Ireland members.  I am installing a 3kw wind turbine with a WindyBoy grid tie inverter.  I am going to do this myself but my local electrical company said I needed to follow the recomendations of G83/1.

I searched for this document and found that I could buy it from the Energy Network Association, but they were charging a rediculous price of £100.

So does anyone have a copy of the Engineering Recomendation G83/1(RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE CONNECTION OF SMALL-SCALE EMBEDDED GENERATORS (UP TO 16 A PER PHASE) IN PARALLEL WITH PUBLIC LOW-VOLTAGE DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS.) And if so would you be willing to send me a copy?  or even if someone could give me an idea of what I need to do to comply with G83/1

Thanks,  I would appreciate any help you's can give.

Damien.

Darren73 that would be great.  Everywhere that I looked for it was charging money.  Thanks again, hope to hear from you soon.

hi Damien,

I can't find my copy of G83/1 at the moment, I know it used to be free, but it appears that they are now charging for it :-(

I will look again over the weekend for it.

From memory the requirements to demonstrate compliance should be in the certificate from the inverter manufacturer and that should also detail the installation requirements to comply with G83/1
