Galvinized vs Stainless allthread

Is the specification for Stainless allthread for weather resistance or magnetic properties? The wheel stud connections rotate with the magnets, so don't cut any magnetic lines, and the stator supports are outside the main field? I'm asking as I have a good supply of 1/2" galvanized allthread in 12" lengths from another project and would rather use them if they are suitable. I'm in the prairies so corrosion is minimal here.

Non-magnetic for cogging reduction.  I personally think a proper bronze or monel is better than Stainless Steel - but, I worked a lot with marine stuff.

Stainless studs are stronger/more rigid than other 'affordable' non-ferrous metals, and does not pull the precious flux away from the intended flux-path, (this has nothing to do with "cutting the flux-path").  Also, it is nice that it is corrosion-resistant.

My understanding is that so far as strength goes, stainless is usually just slightly stronger than grade 2 hardware.  (my understanding is pretty basic though - there are different grades of stainless hardware).  I think grade 2 is plenty good though so long as its big enough and/or you use enough of it.  I think youd be fine to use your galvanized all thread everywhere except in close proximity to the stator.  I would use stainless to support the stator.

Not sure about the grades in USA, but over here (Europe) there are mainly 2 grades stainless steel for fasteners: A2 and A4. IIRC, A2 is roughly AISI 304, while A4 was roughly like AISI 316. A4 is more corrosion resistant than A2. Both come in 3 different strengths, of class 50 (500 N/mm^2), class 70 (700 N/mm^2) and class 80 (800 N/mm^2).

While I don't know why others use it, I'd use it both for corrosion resistance and so I wouldn't have to fight the magnets when assembling things.

I have used both and believe me I will never again use ordinary steel, Stainless makes life so much easier and may prevent cogging. Buy it mail order for around £5 per meter
