Not sure about the grades in USA, but over here (Europe) there are mainly 2 grades stainless steel for fasteners: A2 and A4. IIRC, A2 is roughly AISI 304, while A4 was roughly like AISI 316. A4 is more corrosion resistant than A2. Both come in 3 different strengths, of class 50 (500 N/mm^2), class 70 (700 N/mm^2) and class 80 (800 N/mm^2).
