Great Day for Wind/Sun in NEMO
« on: January 14, 2009, 09:32:55 PM »
Nobody else posting today so thought I'd share today's system performance.  Evidently I accomplished something with my genny cooling mod's (previous posts regarding genny burn-up and mod's to improve stator cooling)

System has been back up and running for about a month now and I've experienced several days where wind gusts have reached 40 mph, with sustained speeds of 25-30 mph.  The modified 10' homebuilt has been putting out decent power and hopefully this will continue.

Attached pictures are from today, showing the Mill/Tower, PV readout on my Outback MX60 and my amp meter on the DC side of my windmill rectifiers.  I'm currently running 1284 watts of solar into the MX-60.  Will probably add some more solar panels to the array shortly.

Hope everybody else is dong well too.

You are doing much better than me.  I've got a bunch of that dihydrogen monoxide fouling going on here in northern Illinois today.  Blocks the sun and pretty much makes a mess of everything.  Rich

Rich, where abouts are you at.  Despite the weather, I'm making a trip to DeKalb and then Rockford tomorrow. Leaving early and hope to hit Dekalb by 9 am then rockford by noon and head back home. Picking up some RE stuff.

Amazing...

I can hardly believe that the MX60 works this well with wind.

No, you got it wrong, the MX 60 is on the PV side, the ammeter shown and MX 60's output both feed the battery.  Curt

Ahhh... OK Thanks.  I do know that some ppl use the MX60 succesfully on wind.

In fact, there is a special system from Kestrel just for that.

Thanks,  Next time I will read more closely.
