First 10 foot turbine
« on: January 30, 2010, 05:11:55 PM »
I finished my 10 footer and wanted to test it out. I am pretty happy with it. I learned a lot of ways not to do stuff and some ways to improve. I am going to mount this on a 42 foot guyed tower in the near future. I was just testing to see how everything works. I know they say not to do what I did, but I couldn't resist.

Hi,

That's a nice generator, you've got me chompin' at the bit to get mine up in the air. I have a ten-11footer/24 volt mill.... groan, as soon as I can get that tower finished! It looks like you mounted your hub on the back of the rotor, I did the exact same thing. I didnt have to drill the clerance hole for the hub that way...I just hope it doesnt change its performance etc etc.

All the best,

 Gavin

That meter is on the Xantrex C40 or C60. I cant remember which. I am sure it is available on both since it is an option. I am not sure I really like it. What do most people use to monitor the energy produced. Is there a inexpensive alternative that provides current power, peak power and cumulative? I would like to start logging power eventually.

yes this one does all those things. dont let it get wet or leave it across the unloaded turbine connections as discussed recently on these pages.
