I had a similar idea using a 4 ton boom truck turret for a yaw bearing and replacing the hyd swing motor for an electric one? Another thought was to stack rotors and stators as has been mentioned before, but only having one phase per stator so one didnt have to try and cram all that copper in one ?

I've thought about that before too, and I think that's the way I'd go if the generator got bigger than about 7 kW.

How  would I figure the wire size and mags needed to go this route?

Hi Chris,

Going on previous posts, you might have problems with the 10AWG wire from eddy currents.

Yes, I've considered that.  I'm still waiting for my generator rotors to get done.  When I get my rotors done and can wind some test coils I'll come up with a better idea of what I should do for wire size and turns in the coils.

Thanks for the input.
